John
Pulomena has served as a Member of the Board of Chosen Freeholders
in Middlesex County since 1998 and is completing his third term.
He has lived in South Plainfield since 1983 with his wife, Maha,
and their children Matthew and Megan. John holds a Bachelor of
Science Degree from the City University of New York with a major
in Computer Science/Math. John is a parishioner of Sacred Heart
Church in South Plainfield.
John Pulomena submits a strong business and professional background. He is presently
the Vice President and CFO of Car-Tech Auto Transport, Inc. He
was previously employed for 22 years at AT&T as Chief Financial
Officer, Network Services Division. He had responsibility for a
multi-billion dollar annual budget. John has extensive experience
in Marketing, Finance and Computer Information Systems.
In addition to completing his third term on the Board of Chosen Freeholders,
John served three terms as a Councilperson in the Borough of South
Plainfield from 1990 through 1998, and was Council President from
1995 through 1998. He has also served as Chairperson of the Middlesex
County Planning Board.
As a Member of the Freeholder Board, John has been the Chairperson for the Public
Health and Education Department as well as an integral Member of
the Administration and Finance Committee. He has taken a leadership
role to enhance the educational programs offered by Middlesex County
College and the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical High
Schools. His commitment to quality, state-of-the-art education
is demonstrated by the construction of a new Academy for Science,
Mathematics and Engineering Technologies, located on the campus
of Middlesex County College, as well as the construction of a new
Vocational and Technical High School in the City of Perth Amboy.
He has also spearheaded the Tech 2000 program which invested over
5 million dollars in the last five years to ensure a computer is
placed in every classroom in Middlesex County. This program is
currently being enhanced to deploy defibrillators throughout public
and non-public schools in the County.
Through the construction of a new state-of-the-art facility, Freeholder John
Pulomena has led the effort to provide expanded services for Rape
Crisis victims and their families and enhanced our health awareness
programs throughout the County. This facility also houses our Tuberculosis
Control Clinic.
He has also worked to establish the Office of Terrorism Preparedness & Planning
to ensure operational readiness and a uniformed response to potential acts of
terrorism. This has been done in conjunction with the Federal and State Homeland
Security initiative.
John has been very instrumental in continuing to maintain a fiscally responsible
budget for Middlesex County residents. John is a strong advocate of bringing
greater efficiency and accountability in serving the residents of Middlesex County.
His vision continues to be one that ensures educational programs of the highest
quality and a community which is environmentally safe and healthy for all of
our residents.
